Some of the most influential guitar players in my life have been guitarists who approached the guitar like it was another instrument. The moment I picked up an acoustic guitar it became, in my mind, a drum set and I was always trying to figure out ways to apply a beat to my playing. There was one problem I found though: the body of a guitar doesn’t sound like a real drum set and that drove me crazy. This obsession ultimately drove me to call up my dad and together we started creating a special type of drum trigger system for an acoustic guitar that would work with any electronic drum module. We had never done anything like this before and after five years of labor we finally developed the drum trigger we were looking for and got a U.S. patent.
